Weirton Elementary School is a public school in Weirton, West Virginia, that serves students in grades PK–4. It has 773 students. The school has a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio, which means that classes are smaller and students get more one-on-one help. The main subjects in the curriculum are basic reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. There are also programs that help with social-emotional learning and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. The student body is not very diverse, but it does include a mix of White and minority students, such as African American, Hispanic, and other groups. Recent test results show that 61% of students scored at or above the proficient level in math and 45% did the same in reading. This means that the students did well in math and have room to strengthen their reading skills. The amount spent per student is in line with state averages and goes toward things like classroom technology, instructional materials, and student services. The school is in a residential area of Weirton and is known for being friendly and getting families involved. Overall, Weirton Elementary School is a good place to learn, with strong math skills and chances to improve reading skills even more, making it one of the top schools in West Virginia.
