About Summit Success Center

In Parkersburg, West Virginia, the Summit Success Center is a public alternative school for students in grades 6 through 12. It is in the Wood County Schools district. The school has about 120 students, and there is one teacher for every ten students. This means that students who do better in smaller classes and with more focused attention can learn better. Summit Success Center helps students do well in school and in life by offering personalized instruction, programs to help them get back on track with their credits, and social-emotional learning.About 85% of the students are White, and about 15% are from groups that are not White, like African American, Hispanic, and multiracial students. The students' grades are different. About 25–30% of them are good at math, and 30–35% are good at English language arts. This is because different types of schools have their own problems and goals. The amount of money each student gets is about the same as the average for the district. This helps pay for individualized teaching materials and support services.
