About Spokane Valley Tech Skills Center

The Spokane Valley Tech Skills Center is a public high school in Spokane Valley, Washington, that serves grades 9–12. About 300 students go there, and the student-to-teacher ratio is close to 15:1. Spokane Valley Tech, which used to be the STEM Academy at SVT, was founded in 2015–2016. It is a STEM-focused school that uses project-based learning to combine language arts and social studies. The school uses tools like Chromebooks and 3D printers to teach 21st-century skills like working together, talking to each other, coming up with new ideas, and solving problems. Ninth graders take Physical Science and Principles of Engineering. Sophomores take preparatory CTE electives before moving on to Skill Center programs that are connected to growing industries. About one-third of the students are minorities, which shows that the student body is diverse across the region. The rates of proficiency in math and ELA are in line with state averages, and the amount of money spent per student is similar to that of other public schools in the area. The school encourages students to take the SAT and ACT and has a counseling program that follows ASCA guidelines.

The Spokane Valley Tech Skills Center in Spokane Valley, Washington, is celebrating some recent big wins. Its CyberPatriot teams came in first and second place in the state in the Platinum Division and second place in the Gold Division. This was a very successful season for the teams, thanks to their teacher Adam Smith. The school keeps stressing real-world technical education through competitive cybersecurity programs that link what students learn in the classroom to what is done in the real world. The CVSD Board of Directors also holds Regular School Board Meetings on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, usually at 6:00 p.m., unless they say otherwise. If a meeting is scheduled for a legal or district holiday, it usually gets moved to the next regular business day unless someone lets you know ahead of time.
