On September 14, 2025, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders visited Rutland Middle School as part of his “Basketball with Bernie” youth outreach events. He hosted free throw contests, presented awards, and distributed basketballs to more than 200 students and families, highlighting teamwork, physical activity, and community connection
