Jackson-Via Elementary School is the best elementary school. It has 351 students in grades PK–4 and a student–teacher ratio of about 12:1, having 29 full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselorTop School in Virginia. The school has about 62% of its students doing well in math and 52% doing well in reading. This is a sign that the Charlottesville City Schools district is doing well overall. There are 48% girls and 52% boys in the student body. The school takes in 110% of poor students. Jackson-Via does somewhat worse than Greenbrier and Burnley-Moran in reading, but it does very well in math. Most students go on to Walker Upper Elementary and Charlottesville High School, where many graduates go on to become successful public servants and athletes. Renting a 3-bedroom apartment near Jackson-Via costs between $1,700 and $2,400 a month.

Swimming Lessons: Jackson-Via second-graders just finished their 5-week intensive swimming lessons at the Brooks Family YMCA. This is a program for elementary school students in all of CCS.

Ans Parents use the PowerSchool system and get news and updates through newsletters and meetings.

Ans Counselors teach social-emotional learning (SEL) classes and set up support groups for students.

Ans You can sign up for classes online or in person at the office in Charlottesville City Schools.
