Hollymead Elementary is the best elementary school in Charlottesville, Virginia, and has about 347 students in grades PK–5. It has 28 full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor, having a student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1; there are about 12 students for every teacher. The school does well in math (87%) and reading (92%), which is better than some other district schools and similar to Baker-Butler's performance. There are 54% male students and 46% female students in the school. 21% of the students at the school come from families with low incomes. Most students go on to Lakeside Middle and Albemarle High School, where many of their alumni have done well in science and public service jobs. Hollymead stresses learning by doing, solving problems, and getting involved in the community. Families moving to the area can expect to pay between $2,000 and $2,700 a month for a three-bedroom rental.

Testing for student growth: Fall growth testing for grades 3–5 is now in progress.
Reading Fall Growth Testing happened on October 28th.
Math Fall Growth Testing happened on October 30th.
The school's Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) put on a Fall Dance on October 24th.

Ans Yes, breakfast and lunch are served every day, and there are healthy options.

Ans Parents can either log into PowerSchool or call their child's teacher directly.

Ans Yes. The school counselor runs peer support groups and social-emotional learning sessions.

Ans Parents can sign up on the ACPS website or in person with proof of where they live.
