The Utah State Board of Education officially named Sego Lily Elementary a Purple Star School because it does such a great job of helping military-connected students, including trained BEAK Ambassadors who help students adjust.
Students have also been taking part in a "Kindness Challenge" in which they earn tokens for doing kind things and can trade them in for treats and prizes. This has made the school's culture of compassion and community even stronger.
Q1, What kinds of programs does Sego Lily Elementary have for smart kids?
Ans. Sego Lily Elementary has programs for gifted and talented students, enrichment classes, and STEM activities for students who are already very good at math and science.
Q2. What does the school do to help students grow socially and emotionally?
Ans. The school uses SEL lessons, counseling, and peer mentoring to help students feel better and act better.
Q3. Are there any activities outside of school at Sego Lily Elementary?
Ans. Yes, students can join after-school enrichment programs, sports, choir, art clubs, and coding classes.
Q4. How does Sego Lily Elementary School get parents and the community involved?
Ans. The school wants families to get involved by volunteering, going to PTA events, joining school committees, and doing community service projects.
