Rachel Henderson, the art specialist at Westvale Elementary, received the 2025 Sorenson Legacy Award for Excellence in Arts Education for her outstanding work integrating visual arts into the school curriculum.
Q1: What kinds of clubs or activities can kids join?
Ans. Westvale Elementary has a lot of different academic and interest-based activities, like reading groups, STEM tasks, and projects that change from class to class.
Q2: What does the school do with technology in the classroom?
Ans. Most of the time, students use Chromebooks and interactive learning platforms that the district gives them during class.
Q3: What do you do to help students who need more help?
Ans. Teachers can give small-group lessons, help with specific problems, and support from staff who are trained to do so.
Q4: How does the school recognize the accomplishments of its students?
Ans. There are many ways to show thanks, such as giving out certificates, holding assemblies, giving rewards in the classroom, and sending home positive notes.
Q5. Do schools want parents to help out at school events?
Ans. Yes, Westvale Elementary wants families to get involved by going to events, volunteering, and taking part in programs that bring the school and the community together.
