Being Updated
Recent updates publicly released show that the Dallas ISD is still working on developing their Disciplinary Alternative Education Program model in order to facilitate an academic continuum and learning environment for students who need to be temporarily enrolled there. The district’s recommendations for the 2025-2026 school year emphasize the importance of continuing to work on behavior support, transition planning, and access to core content areas.
Q1. What is the process by which students are referred to the Elementary Disciplinary Alternative Education Program?
Ans. The general process of referring a student follows an evaluation of the student's behavior, leading to a decision regarding whether the student needs a change of campus to continue his studies.
Q2. Are there counseling or behavioral interventions offered in the program?
Ans. Yes, generally speaking, the program provides counseling facilities and other behavioral guides for helping a student make his return to the home campus easier.
Q3. How long will they be in the program?
Ans. The period spent in such programs is variable depending on the case and the decision made in evaluating the student's performance.
Q4. Are core subjects like Math or English taught while in the program?
Ans. In these programs, emphasis is often placed on keeping up with core subject areas such that the students may easily integrate back into the home campus.
Q5. Are there transportations services provided to those students attending the program?
Ans. Transportation services vary according to each district's placement program, among others.
