The Academy at Opry Mills is a public high school in Nashville, Tennessee that offers an alternative to traditional high school. The Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) runs it and works with groups in the community. The school is for students in grades 9–12, mostly older students who are close to getting their high school diploma and need a place to learn that isn't traditional and is flexible. The Academy at Opry Mills only has 25 to 40 students at a time, and the student–teacher ratio is only 6:1, so each student gets a lot of one-on-one attention. The school helps students get the credits they need to graduate by letting them change their schedules, focusing on credit recovery, and making personalized academic plans. Many of the students at the school are from low-income families or are minorities. Because it uses a different model, regular standardized proficiency data in Math and Reading is limited. But students do have to take state-required tests when they are. Students can also take tests to see if they are ready for college, like the SAT.
