Being Updated
This school year, Hayward Elementary is making some exciting changes. The district is switching to a new Spanish immersion program that is more open to everyone.Hayward will start offering a "developmental bilingual education (DBE)" program for new kindergarteners next fall. Students will learn how to read and write in Spanish and get English lessons every day through this program. The school changed this to better reflect the community and help families who speak Spanish as their first language, but they still welcome all students.School staff and district leaders are hopeful that this is a step in the right direction.
