The "Hurricane Challenge" at Hoover Elementary encourages kids to come to school by giving classes that have 90% or higher attendance an ice cream party. Students and staff are also taking part in a "Read Across the World Challenge," which aims to read more than 24,000 books together. A first-grade class recently won the sign-up contest for the Pear Blossom Mayor's Cup Run/Walk.
