Midwest City, Oklahoma, is a medium-sized suburb of Oklahoma City. It is known for having a close-knit community and homes that are good for families. The city is part of the Midwest City–Del City Public School District, which has 19 public schools and more than 12,000 students. Good Shepherd Lutheran School and St. Philip Neri are two examples of private elementary schools. Diversity is essential in the elementary schools in Midwest City. Minorities constitute about 67–68% of the students in public schools. The district has a high graduation rate (about 90%) and a very diverse student body, but the average scores on standardized tests in math and reading are below the state average (for example, some schools only have 10–13% of students who are good at math).
