About Heritage Elementary School

Heritage Elementary School is a public school in Edmond, Oklahoma, that teaches kids from pre-K to fifth grade. People in the area often say that the school is serious about academics but also makes sure that kids are comfortable and safe during the day. The school has about 820 to 830 students, and there are about 14 students for every teacher. This lets teachers pay attention to each student without the classrooms being too full. About 67% of students are good at both math and reading, which is a lot higher than the state average. Parents say this is because the school focuses on building basic skills early and gives kids a lot of practice. Students follow a full curriculum, and they can get extra help when they need it. There are also activities in the classroom that break up the usual work. The campus has a laid-back vibe, and the school is better off when families stay involved all year. A lot of parents say that their kids get used to things quickly here. Students feel at ease while they grow and learn at their own pace because of the regular schedule, clear expectations, and friendly staff.

Latest News

Heritage Elementary School just finished its "Celebration of Excellence" for 2025, and the event brought a lot of good news for the school community. One of the best parts was when Taylor Belote, a third-grade teacher, was named District Teacher of the Year for Edmond Public Schools. Parents and staff say she is known for her calm support of young students every day and her steady classroom routines.

The school also honored Leah McDonald, who won a statewide Medal for Excellence for her work in music at the elementary level. Students look forward to her classes because she uses stories, movement, and simple instruments to help them learn about music in a fun way.
