Southwood Elementary School recently celebrated the unveiling of a new mural designed by students that pays homage to the school’s history and promotes its message of unity and perseverance. Student-led literacy clubs are rapidly growing on campus, and there has been a recent emphasis on the diversity of book collections in the media center. This spring, the school successfully held a “Kindness Breakfast” to recognize students who exemplify empathy and integrity in their daily lives.

Ans. The school’s goal is for every child to gain a year’s worth or more of academic growth in reading and math so that all students in K-3 are at grade level by the end of third grade.

Ans. Southwood has received the Momentum State Award for academic growth and the Annual Ohio PBIS Bronze Award for positive behavior intervention and support.
