Robert C Dodson School is celebrating the success of its “Dodson Pride” program that recently held a huge community service day for local Yonkers neighborhood centers. Recently, students at the school practiced strategic thinking and engineering through a “Spring STEAM Challenge” to build functioning prototypes from recycled materials. The campus has also been noted for its strong peer-mentorship team that helps new students transition to campus life.
Q1. What does Robert C. Dodson School do to support students as they transition from elementary to middle-school grades?
Ans. Our “Bridge Program” assists fifth graders in transitioning to moving between classes and handling more independent academic responsibilities on our PK-8 campus.
Q2. Are there competitive team sports at Robert C. Dodson School for the students in the upper elementary levels?
Ans. We offer "Dodson Athletics," a seasonal soccer and basketball league that emphasizes teamwork skills.
Q3.What character-building initiatives are being used at the Robert C. Dodson School campus?
Ans. Our “Dodson Do-Right” recognizes students for displaying outstanding integrity, empathy and leadership in their everyday school-wide interactions.
Q4. Is there an opportunity for students at Robert C. Dodson School to get involved with digital music or recording arts?
Ans. In our fine arts department, there is an elective “Sound Studio” in which students learn the basics of digital music composition and editing.
Q5. What is the process by which parents are involved in campus beautification and planning at Robert C. Dodson School?
Ans. We have “Campus Pride Saturdays” where families help with gardening and mural projects to keep our school looking its best.
