Being Updated
Museum School 25 recently completed a school-wide expeditionary project that transformed the hallways of the school into a student-curated museum of local Yonkers historical landmarks. The school is recognizing its newest “Curator Scholars,” students who have demonstrated outstanding research skills and a commitment to high-quality academic presentations. The campus also recently partnered with a regional art museum to give students opportunities for behind-the-scenes workshops and educational field trips.
Q1. How will “Museum Studies” in Museum School 25 change how students learn history?
Ans. Students research local artifacts and create their own exhibits as curators to share their academic discoveries to the community.
Q2. Are there any special field trips to major New York museums during the year at Museum School 25?
Ans. Yes, each grade level visits at least three museums annually to link their classroom research with professional historical collections.
Q3. What kinds of oral history projects do Museum School 25 students engage in in the community?
Ans. Students interview local Yonkers residents to document stories of neighborhood changes, creating a digital bridge across generations.
Q4. Does Museum School 25 provide students with an opportunity to learn about archaeological digging and artifact preservation?
Ans. Through our “Junior Archeologist” club, students can take part in simulated digs and study how to catalog and preserve historical artifacts.
Q5. How can Museum School 25 parents support the annual “Museum Night” showcase throughout the campus?
Ans. Parents are welcome to help build exhibit displays and also volunteer as docents to guide visitors through our student-led galleries.
