Being Updated
Family School 32 is now one of the highest daily student attendance in the Yonkers Public Schools district for the 2019-20 school year. The school recently hosted a series of workshops called “Parent University,” which focuses on how families can help their children build literacy and math skills with fun activities at home. The campus also recently unveiled a new inclusive playground structure that ensures every student will have the opportunity to safely and actively play outside.
Q1. At Family School 32, how is “Family” defined in the context of everyday staff-student interactions?
Ans. We also value a multi-age learning environment where the older students mentor the younger students and have a close-knit, supportive campus culture.
Q2. Does Family School 32 have an on-site parent resource center with specialized support?
Ans. We have a “Family Hub” where parents can access a computer, find resources for employment and attend workshops on how to help students learn literacy habits.
Q3. How often do the students of Family School 32 take part in community service projects in Yonkers?
Ans. Every grade level initiates seasonal service projects (neighborhood clean-ups, food drives, etc.) to develop a sense of local responsibility.
Q4. In what ways does Family School 32 promote the social and emotional health of all learners?
Ans. We also have “Morning Meetings” and restorative justice circles to teach students how to peacefully resolve conflicts and build strong interpersonal skills.
Q5. Are the “Mystery Reader” in-class events at Family School 32 open to parents during the week?
Ans. We love having parents come in as guest readers to share their favorite books and to inspire a love of literacy.
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
