Recently Cesar E Chavez School hosted its “Family Engagement Night” that attracted record crowds of local residents to student-led academic workshops. The new leadership initiative, which encourages PK-8 students to lead school-wide recycling and beautification projects, is on display at the moment on campus. Students also were honored for their high scores at the recent regional science fair for projects involving sustainable energy.

Q1. How do you ensure the safety of students during morning drop-off on Walnut Street at Cesar E Chavez School?

Ans. Each day our campus depends on a supervised car-rider loop and dedicated crossing guards to ensure students safely enter the building.

Q2. Are there any specific programs at Cesar E Chavez School for students who want to develop public speaking skills?

Ans. Students develop confidence in professional speaking through our “Youth Voices” initiative, which allows students to practice presentation skills and lead morning announcements.

Q3. What support does Cesar E Chavez School offer to families whose primary language is not English?

Ans. We also have a bilingual community liaison who assists families with school forms, parent-teacher conferences and local resources.

Ans. Students in our Eco-Chavez club take charge of recycling on campus and get their hands dirty with sustainable urban gardening projects.
