For the 2025-2026 school year, Forest Elementary will be implementing an early start schedule to better correspond with recent research on healthy student sleep habits. The school’s Universal Pre-K program continues to receive accolades for its emphasis on learning through play and social-emotional development for the district’s youngest learners. This May, members of the community are gearing up for the annual district-wide vote to keep the school’s diverse academic and extracurricular programs going strong.
Q1. In what ways does Forest Elementary School support the emotional health and life choices of its students?
Ans. The school has a Youth Wellness Program, managed by a committee of parents, teachers and community members.
Q2. How much time do kids get for unstructured play or recess at Forest Elementary School?
Ans. Students receive about 20 minutes of free time each day for indoor or outdoor play and socialization with peers.
Q3. Does Forest Elementary School offer any resources for families with students in gifted or special education?
Ans. The Williamsville Special Education PTSA sponsors workshops to help these families advocate for their children’s unique needs.
Q4. What is Forest Elementary School’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports process?
Ans. This team process assists in ensuring that students are offered appropriate academic or behavioral interventions prior to being formally referred for special education.
Q5. Does Forest Elementary School offer TIES for extracurricular activities? .
Ans. Yes, TIES is used by the school to offer student-specific support to children with disabilities in a variety of community-based activities.
