Stephanie Walton was recently named a Teacher of the Year finalist for her dedication to her primary students at Southlawn School. The school continues to flourish in its character education goals, with students participating in the district’s prestigious “Character Without Question” awards. Additionally, the campus has recently improved its safety protocols to provide a more secure and smooth daily commute for all families.
Q1. What support does Southlawn School offer for first time students who might be nervous about starting a full day of school?
Ans. Play-based transitions and social-emotional check-ins are used by our primary teachers to ensure that each young child feels safe and happy every day.
Q2. Is there a sensory-friendly learning or quiet reflection space at Southlawn School to use during the busy day?
Ans. Our library has sensory-friendly reading corners for students to take quiet breaks or engage in hands-on learning.
Q3. What is the policy for celebrating student birthdays on the Southlawn School campus to ensure inclusivity?
Ans. As a We celebrate with non-food items such as “Birthday Books” or classroom games to keep our environment healthy and inclusive.
Q4. How often do students at Southlawn School engage in structured physical education and supervised outdoor play?
Ans. Students have daily movement time or recess to develop their motor skills and coordination in our large playgrounds.
Q5. Is there any opportunity for parents to volunteer in the “Community Reading” program at Southlawn School campus during the week?
Ans. Yes, we do ask parent volunteers to sign up to be guest readers to help foster a deep love for books.
