School 50-Helen Barrett Montgomery marked a major milestone in its early literacy program with second graders hitting a record-high proficiency rate. The school held its annual “Family Wellness Expo” with local health experts and families taking part in fitness challenges. The campus was also recently honored for its creative “Buddy Program” that pairs upperclassmen with younger students to mentor them.
Q1. How does the “Bilingual Bridge” program at School 50-Helen Barrett Montgomery assist students’ transition?
Ans. We offer individual language support and bilingual resources so that all students feel confident and supported in their lessons.
Q2. Are there any specialized STEM electives at School 50-Helen Barrett Montgomery for students interested in engineering?
Ans. In our lab, called “Puzzle Solvers,” students take on a new challenge each week to ignite and foster an early interest in physical science and engineering.
Q3. What kinds of “Civic Duty” projects are School 50-Helen Barrett Montgomery students currently working on?
Ans. Students are learning about local government and are leading advocacy projects that address neighborhood issues they have identified in the local community.
Q4. How does School 50-Helen Barrett Montgomery create a safe haven environment in the midst of a busy instructional day?
Ans. We use a “Values-First” approach, rewarding students on a daily basis for being respectful and supportive of their peers.
Q5. Does School 50-Helen Barrett Montgomery have any student-led physical education programs (e.g., a running club)?
Ans. We meet weekly with our “Eagle Stride” club to promote physical fitness and healthy living habits for students of all grades.
