Being Updated
Recently, Colebrook School held a "Read Across Irondequoit" event where local firefighters and leaders read to students to encourage them to love books. The school is also happy with how well its new "Mindfulness Morning" routine is working. It has helped students start their day with focus and emotional balance. The campus also got a grant to plant native trees and make a shaded outdoor reading nook for students.
Q1. How does Colebrook School include local heroes like firefighters in its yearly literacy events?
Ans. Firefighters from the area come to classrooms to read their favorite childhood books and talk about how important it is to read and be safe.
Q2. How does the "Mindfulness Morning" routine affect the students at Colebrook School?
Ans. These quiet times of reflection help students get ready for a day of learning by making them feel calm and focused when they enter the classroom.
Q3. Is there a quiet, private outdoor space at Colebrook School for reading?
Ans. Students can read their favorite books during recess in our new outdoor reading nook, which is shaded and quiet.
Q4. How does Colebrook School use its beautification grant to teach kids about plants that are native to the area?
Ans. Students learn about the importance of caring for the environment and local biodiversity by planting native trees and flowers.
Q5. What kinds of tools does Colebrook School use to keep parents and teachers in touch with each other about how their students are doing?
Ans. We use a digital app that works in real time to let parents see pictures of what their kids are doing in class and get daily updates on their progress.
