Buckman Heights Elementary School is currently honoring its "Student of the Month" leaders, who have shown great honesty and service to their classmates. A recent project funded by the community added new, inclusive equipment to the playground on campus so that all kids can safely enjoy being active. Also, the school's teachers were praised for working together to create new project-based learning units that focus on Rochester's local history.
Q1. How does Buckman Heights Elementary School choose the "Student of the Month" character leaders?
Ans. Teachers and classmates choose students who always show respect, help others, and act with integrity in every classroom interaction.
Q2. Does Buckman Heights Elementary School have any playground sessions for students with physical disabilities?
Ans. We have new equipment that lets all the kids play together, and we also have structured peer-play sessions to encourage everyone to get along.
Q3. What parts of Rochester's history are covered in the Buckman Heights Elementary School project-based units?
Ans. Students look into the city's industrial history and the Erie Canal to learn how their hometown has changed over the years.
Q4. How does Buckman Heights Elementary School help third graders move from a primary school to an intermediate school?
Ans. Our new intermediate students take part in a "Welcome Bridge" program that helps them learn how to be organized and depend on themselves.
Q5. Are there any student-led clubs at Buckman Heights Elementary School that are specifically about recycling on campus?
Ans. Students in the "Eco-Warriors" club can teach their friends how to cut down on daily waste and take care of the sorting bins on campus.
