May 2026 The air is thick with literacy and community spirit at Locust School. The campus is alive with the hustle and bustle of end-of-year academic assessments and the preparation for the district’s recent passage of the 2026-2027 budget, as well as its annual Field Day events. There’s still plenty of activity at the school as faculty are busy with the “Portrait of a Graduate” curriculum initiatives and working with the PTA to host spring events that highlight student growth and school pride.
Q1. What is the general vibe like for kids who walk into Locust School on their first day?
Ans. Most kids adjust pretty quickly at Locust School because the staff really tries to make everyone feel welcome.
Q2. Does Locust School give students a chance to explore music, art, or sports during the week?
Ans. Yes, Locust School provides time for arts, music and physical activity so that students are provided with more than just textbook learning.
Q3. How safe is the school campus at Locust School for young students?
Ans. Locust School takes the safety of its students seriously and has the right measures in place to ensure parents can feel confident dropping their kids off.
Q4. Can families get involved in what goes on at Locust School or is it mostly staff-driven?
Ans. Locust School truly appreciates parent involvement and there are many ways for families to stay connected and involved.
