New Visions Elementary School is in the center of Freeport and has a bright, welcoming atmosphere that encourages students to think outside the box. The school serves about 439 students in grades K–4 and has a male-to-female ratio of 54.5% to 45.5%. The school has a strong multicultural community due to 72.6% of its students are Hispanic, and 20.4% are African American. The school has about 37 teachers and counselors, which keeps the student-teacher ratio low at 10:1. This means that each child gets personalized help. Academic tests show that 55% of students are good at math and 59% are good at reading. The school focuses on inquiry-based learning, which includes hands-on exploration that builds confidence, curiosity, and teamwork. Celebrating Success Award: Students can pursue their interests outside of school through extracurricular activities and special projects. The projects include arts, community service projects, and STEM activities. Ms. Aneesah Abdus-Shakur was a former teacher, received the Celebrating Success Award for her dedication to assisting students succeed from the school. The average home price in the area is about $550,000, which shows that it is a friendly and lively place to live. New Visions Elementary School is one of the outstanding elementary schools in New York because it has strong academics, a dedicated staff, and innovative programs.
