The Ps 26 Rufus King school has been identified as a “Reward School” by New York State, which is given to schools showing high performance or significant progress. This designation signals strong teaching quality and effective school leadership. Around 95% of teachers would recommend the school to families, which is significantly higher than the city average. A high percentage of teachers are experienced (over 3 years), indicating staff stability and quality instruction. A new 4-story building expansion has been completed/near completion, adding: ~400 new seats, Modern classrooms, pre-K spaces, and specialized resource rooms. This expansion helps reduce overcrowding and improve learning facilities, signaling long-term investment in the school.
