In May 2025, Urban Dove Team Charter School testified before the City Council in support of funding for the Learn to Work program, asking for $1 million to expand the internships, college support, and counseling throughout all four schools in its network. The school’s model is based around sports, teams and mentoring for 2.5 hours each day, with seasonal choices of volleyball, basketball, soccer and yoga that build leadership and academic confidence. Each classroom features two teachers and students work at their own pace on laptops with trimester credits, helping over-age, under-credited youth get back on track to graduate.
