In March 2026, the sixth-grade team from Ms. 246 Walt Whitman took a trip to Barclays Center to celebrate their Black History Month hallway-decoration victory. During the recognition trip, the participating students also had a silent party. The event served as an incentive for a school-based cultural competition and student achievement. The program was a combination of academic and community celebration with rewards outside the classroom based on experience.
