Being Updated
International High School at Lafayette serves new immigrants who have been in the United States four years or less, with classes taught mostly in English while teachers support students in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Urdu, Uzbek, and Cantonese. Students can earn free college credit through Kingsborough Community College courses taught at the high school, designed for middle-achieving students to get ready for college. The school’s unique graduation pathway requires only English language arts and math Regents exams, with students demonstrating mastery in other subjects through essays, research papers, art projects, or science experiments presented to teachers and visitors.
