High School for Civil Rights immerses students in law and civil rights through Constitutional law classes and a real Youth Court held in the school’s own courtroom, training students as jurors, judges, and advocates in partnership with East New York Youth Court and Red Hook Justice Center. The school recently added a new recording studio for students interested in music, alongside choir, studio arts, and filmmaking classes. To support learners who arrive below grade level, the school runs an extended day until 7 p.m., double periods in core subjects, lunchtime tutoring, and Saturday school.
