The EBC High School for Public Service – Bushwick has improved its college and career readiness by partnering with Long Island University, Medgar Evers College, Brooklyn College and Columbia University, so students can take Advanced Placement and college-level classes on and off-site. The school is all about public service and activism, and students recently got some money from their local councilman to clean up a run-down stretch of Broadway Avenue in Brooklyn. Teachers are using more group work and problem solving in instruction, and students are producing work products that are meaningful and demonstrate high levels of thinking and participation.
