The South Bronx Literacy Academy and the families and community members who helped to found the school were featured in the documentary “Left Behind” in January 2025. The academy is adding additional grade levels and expanding its literacy-focused instructional programs in the 2025–2026 school year. Recent school data also showed strong reading growth for students using structured literacy lessons and regular classroom learning activities.
