Being Updated
PS 97 is currently celebrating an award for having the highest daily student attendance rate in the district for the term. Recently, the school launched a series of workshops called the “Parent Bridge,” which offers families more practical ways to help support their children’s literacy skills at home. The campus also recently held a ceremony for its reimagined “Creative Learning Center” designed to promote a positive and inclusive school culture for all students.
Q1. How do PS 97 utilize “Math Power Hours” to build student confidence and develop numeracy skills?
Ans. Students play fun, competitive math games and group problem solving that turns complex numbers into an exciting day-to-day adventure.
Q2. Does PS 98 have family workshops that focus on the social and emotional health of students?
Ans. Our counselor holds “Coffee and Heart” sessions for the parents to learn how to build resilience and positive communication with their children.
Q3. Are there student leadership opportunities at PS 98 such as a “Kindness Crew?”
Ans. Yes. Students also have the opportunity to become “Kindness Ambassadors,” who lead service projects on campus and mediate peer conflicts on the playground.
Q4. How do schoolwide events at PS 97 celebrate the many cultural traditions of the Pelham Gardens neighborhood?
Ans. We have an annual “Heritage Day” where we celebrate the many cultures of our student body through music and food.
Q5. Does PS 97 offer any after school enrichment programs that teach traditional art or digital painting?
Ans. Students can receive additional time to work in painting, digital photography and basic graphic design with the program “Studio 97” each semester.
