Being Updated
PS 70 Max Schoenfeld is found at 1691 Weeks Avenue in the Mount Hope neighborhood. Enrollment reaches 610 students in grades PK-5 with a student-teacher ratio of 10:1. Reading proficiency is 28% and math proficiency is 15%. The student body is 53% male and 47% female. The school environment is supportive and emphasizes steady academic progress for every learner. The campus hosts specialized early literacy workshops that focus on building phonics skills through interactive digital media. Students participate in an enriched music program where they learn to play instruments starting in primary grades. The academic framework is bolstered by a "math-lete" club that challenges students with competitive logic and arithmetic puzzles. Furthermore, a parent-teacher partnership program offers workshops that help families support their child's learning at home.
Q1. How does PS 70 help young students who are experiencing a full school day for the very first time?
Ans. Every day, teachers use play-based social routines and “Gentle Starts” to make each primary child feel comfortable and secure.
Q2. Does PS 70 have a special program to promote healthy eating and student physical wellness?
Ans. Our "Healthy Habits" initiative gives families tips on staying active and making nutritious food choices that boost brain power.
Q3. What arts and crafts projects does the PS 70 library media center have that are special?
Ans. In our library, we have a “Maker Space” where students use recycled materials and digital tools to build creative inventions during their free time.
Q4. How does PS 70 celebrate the rich cultural heritages represented in its student body each year?
Ans. Each year we have a “Heritage Festival” where families bring food, music and traditions and our school becomes a bustling center of world diversity.
Q5. Does PS 70 offer programs for students with high talent in mathematics?
Ans. Our “Math Olympiad” team has weekly sessions to work through complex logic puzzles and they compete in regional academic challenges to hone their skills.
