PS 68 is located at 4011 Monticello Avenue in the Edenwald section of the Bronx. This campus serves 410 students in grades PK-5. The student-teacher ratio is 9:1. Math proficiency is 52% and reading proficiency is 49%. The gender mix is 52% male and 48% female. The school fosters a disciplined environment where educators focus on building basic academic foundations. The program features a dedicated literacy lab where students receive one-on-one and small-group reading support. A campus-wide technology initiative provides every student with digital devices to enhance their daily learning experience. The curriculum is further enhanced by a dual-language program option that promotes bilingualism and cultural awareness from an early age. Students also have access to a school garden project where they learn about biology and sustainable environmental practices.
Q1. What are PS 68’s procedures for safely and efficiently dismissing walkers and car-riders?
Ans. Every day, staff watch our color-coded dismissal process to make sure each child is safely delivered to his or her approved guardian or bus.
Q2. Does PS 68 provide any specialized literacy support for students who are “Emerging Bilinguals” in the primary grades?
Ans. The “Language Lab” on our campus offers students small group, targeted instruction to develop academic vocabulary and reading fluency in a safe, nurturing environment.
Q3. How often do students at PS 68 get to do science experiments in the lab on campus?
Ans. All grade levels come to the lab every week to do hands-on investigations that make textbook lessons come alive through scientific discovery.
Q4. Do students at PS 68 get opportunities to participate in the performing arts, such as choir or theatrical drama?
Ans. Students are encouraged to participate in our seasonal choir or drama club, offering them a professional stage to display their special creative talents to their families.
Q5. Each month PS 68 honors students who have shown exceptional kindness and responsibility.
Ans. We hold our “Values Assemblies” to honor our “Scholars of Character” who display leadership through positive social actions and helpfulness.
