Being Updated
Wayne N. Tanaka Elementary School will hold its Science Fair on November 24. Students will showcase their projects and experiments, highlighting their curiosity and scientific thinking.
Q1. What does Tanaka Elementary do to encourage kindness and good behavior?
Ans. "Be Kind" messages and participation in CCSD CARES programs that stress mutual courtesy and respect help Tanaka students behave well. Students learn that doing things like saying kind things or letting others play with them at recess are ways to live out these values every day.
Q2. What kinds of help with social and emotional issues does the Counselor's Corner at Tanaka offer?
Ans. The Counselor's Corner at Tanaka is where students can receive social and emotional support. There, they can learn about friendship, coping skills, and how to solve problems. The counselor works with teachers and families to provide kids lessons and tools that help them cope with their feelings and become more resilient.
Q3. What does Tanaka Elementary do to teach kids about safety and people who help in the community?
Ans. Tanaka's safety education includes things like the Clark County Fire Department coming to talk to kindergarten students and showing them the fire truck and gear. These visits help little kids learn how first responders keep the community safe and what to do in an emergency.
Q4. How does Tanaka keep families up to date on news and events?
Ans. The Tanaka Tabloid newsletters and the school's news page are two ways that families can talk to each other. They share stories, reminders, and information about upcoming events. Parents can read about events like the Haunted Harvest Fest and stay up-to-date on important dates, spirit days, and school projects.
Q5. How does the Tanaka community honor its students and staff?
Ans. Tanaka Dragon Accolades and district RAVE are two examples of how Tanaka recognizes its students. Check out the links that let families thank outstanding workers. When students see teachers and staff being praised for their hard work, it makes them feel good about the school and encourages everyone to do their best.
