Being Updated
Estes M. McDoniel Elementary School’s new principal is Darla Richards. She has expressed her excitement about leading the school and collaborating with parents, students, and staff to continue its legacy of excellence.
Q1. What does McDoniel say its main goal is for students?
Ans. The goal of McDoniel is to help students, parents, and staff build responsibility, self-confidence, and skills for learning for the rest of their lives.
Q2: How does McDoniel identify students who need extra help with their schoolwork?
Ans. McDoniel uses early intervention by screening students in the first few weeks of school to find those who aren't yet at the grade level. Then, they identify specific gaps so that support can start right away.
Q3. What tools can help families of McDoniel students stay in touch with the school?
Ans. The Important Information & Links section of the school website has the Parent Student Handbook, the Family Engagement Center, Title I information, and tips for how to communicate with parents and work together with the school.
Q4. How can parents tell McDoniel about absences or problems?
Ans. Parents can fill out an online absence form and use tools like the "Report A Bully" link and the Family Support Center to voice their concerns and seek help.
Q5. What chances do parents have to get involved at McDoniel?
Ans. Parents can join the PTA, volunteer as a Watch D.O.G., give staff members praise through RAVE Review, and take part in family engagement activities that the school promotes on its website.
