Being Updated
SABE still uses a dual-language immersion model, with half of the lessons in English and half in Spanish. This shows that the school is still committed to making sure that all of its students are bilingual and culturally aware.
The district of charter and magnet schools recently gave SABE a good rating for its charter status and curriculum. The school is known for its strong bilingual education, programs for gifted and talented students, and commitment to inclusivity.
Q1. Is Sandoval Academy a magnet school, a charter school, or a regular public school?
Ans. SABE is a public dual-language magnet school in the Rio Rancho Public Schools district that focuses on teaching in both languages.
Q2. What percentage of the lessons are taught in both Spanish and English?
Ans. The school uses a 50/50 dual-language immersion model, meaning that half of the lessons are in Spanish and half are in English.
Q3. Do students have to speak Spanish before they can sign up?
Ans. No prior Spanish knowledge is required; students can start learning Spanish in kindergarten.
Q4. How does SABE choose which students to accept?
Ans. Depending on availability, enrollment is based on either a district magnet application or a lottery system.
Q5. Does SABE only teach language skills, or does it also teach basic subjects?
Ans. The school puts a lot of emphasis on reading, math, science, and social studies, in addition to bilingual education.
