Being Updated
Tombaugh Elementary School hosted a free Community Wellness Night and Trunk or Treat event in October 2025. The event brought families together for health-focused activities and seasonal fun.
Q1. How does Tombaugh Elementary use models to teach astronomy?
Ans. Students make simple models of the sun, earth, and moon, watch how light and shadow change, and talk about how celestial bodies affect each other.
Q2. How does the school help students learn how to guess when measuring?
Ans. Students compare things, make educated guesses, and then measure to see how close they were. This procedure helps them develop their reasoning skills.
Q3. What things help kids learn how to make financial decisions early on?
Ans. Students use classroom tokens to "buy" choices, which teaches them about cost, saving, and making decisions.
Q4. How does Tombaugh help people understand how stories are put together?
Ans. Students use picture sequences and guided retellings to map out the beginnings, middles, and ends of stories so they can understand how they flow.
Q5. What are some classroom routines that help students help each other?
Ans. Older students or peer helpers help younger students with their work by showing them how to be patient, explain things, and talk to each other in a helpful way.
