Students Transitioning and Achieving Real Success (STARS) in Paterson, New Jersey, has helped students get better at school. The New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) shows that Paterson Public Schools students' math skills have gone up by 8% and their English Language Arts skills have gone up by 7%. The school teaches English and helps new immigrants learn about American culture. STARS helps its students by offering a variety of extracurricular activities, such as SAT prep.
