Matthew Thornton Elementary School recently held its annual Veterans Day assembly, which honored more than 100 veterans from the area. Students from all grades took part, which shows how much the school cares about getting involved in the community, being aware of civic issues, and building character. The event shows how serious the school is about teaching students and their families how to be respectful, thankful, and connected to their community.
Q1. Are there any programs at Matthew Thornton Elementary School that kids can do after school to help them learn more?
Ans. Yes. The school has after-school programs that help kids with their homework, arts and crafts, sports, and seasonal clubs so they can keep learning after school.
Q2: What does the school do to help kids who are moving from preschool or another school?
Ans. Matthew Thornton Elementary helps new students get used to their new school by giving them orientation sessions, letting them visit classrooms, and giving them help from a guidance counselor.
Q3: Are there any digital tools or technology used in the lessons?
Ans. Yes. The school gives students the right tools, software, and online resources to help them learn more math, reading, and science.
Q4: How can parents keep track of what their child is doing in school and outside of school?
Ans. The school sends out newsletters and emails, has parent-teacher meetings, and has an online portal where parents can see how their kids are doing in school and what events are coming up.
Q5: What kinds of programs are there to help kids become more socially and emotionally healthy?
Ans. Matthew Thornton Elementary has counseling, social-emotional learning programs, and activities in the classroom that help kids become more resilient, work together, and behave well.
