Kennedy Elementary School hosted the Nebraska Robotics Technology Expo for the first time in February last year. Students in the after-school robotics program participated in STEAM-focused activities and competed with peers from around Omaha.
Q1. How does Kennedy help kids understand timelines early on?
Ans. As part of district social studies lessons, students put events in order, compare the past and the present, and make simple timelines.
Q2. What does the school do to help students become more aware of syllables?
Ans. Teachers use activities like sorting, clapping, and word-chunking to help students learn about phonological awareness.
Q3. What techniques help students learn how to classify things in science?
Ans. Students sort things by their observable traits, compare their attributes, and write down what they find using district science tools.
Q4. How does Kennedy help students feel more sure of themselves when they read with a partner?
Ans. Students take turns reading, use sentence starters that help them, and practice fluency through guided peer routines.
Q5. What habits help kids become more independent during morning work?
Ans. When students get to class, they follow the posted instructions, get their materials, and start the warm-up tasks right away.
