Jefferson Elementary School reported that resource teacher Jordynn Boyle received a grant in November 2025 from the North Platte Public Schools Foundation and Fat Dogs. The funding will be used to purchase a sensory table for her classroom, as highlighted in a “Reaching One Classroom at a Time” segment.
Q1. How does Jefferson help kids learn how to put stories in order?
Ans. Students use picture cards, retell organizers, and guided prompts to put events in order during literacy lessons.
Q2: How does the school help kids learn how to make maps?
Ans. Students practice spatial awareness by drawing simple floor plans and neighborhood maps as part of OPS social studies activities.
Q3. What methods can help students improve their math reasoning?
Ans. Teachers use manipulatives, open-ended questions, and think-aloud modeling that are in line with OPS math practices.
Q4. What does Jefferson do to help students listen for longer periods of time?
Ans. Students work on their focus by reading aloud, following multi-step directions, and playing listening games that help them pay attention.
Q5. What does the school do to teach kids how to be responsible when they go to centers?
Ans. Classrooms use rotation boards, task sheets, and cleanup rules to help students switch between activities on their own.
