Grace Abbott Elementary School reported that Millard Public Schools is moving forward with an addition and renovation project. Bids were publicly invited in late November 2025 for a new 215 sq. ft. addition and renovations to 44,093 sq. ft. of the existing building.
Q1. How does Grace Abbott help kids learn how to understand things early on?
Ans. Students practice making predictions, asking questions, and summarizing during read-alouds and guided reading, which are part of OPS literacy routines.
Q2. How does the school promote the study of cultural traditions?
Ans. Abbott uses district social studies units that teach about different cultures' communities, traditions, and holidays.
Q3. What can students do to solve multi-step math problems?
Ans. Teachers show students how to use strategies, give them manipulatives, and lead problem-solving discussions to help them think through the steps.
Q4. How does Grace Abbott make simple engineering problems easier to understand?
Ans. Students build things, test their stability, and make changes to their designs in hands-on engineering activities that are linked to OPS science standards.
Q5. What habits make it safer and more polite to move around the school?
Ans. Students follow the rules for the hallways, practice moving quietly, and get feedback that helps them move safely.
