Apple Creek Elementary School is a highly rated public school in a quiet rural area east of Bismarck, North Dakota. The school serves students in grades K–5 and has about 78 students, which keeps the community feel close-knit. The student body is split evenly between males and females, with 50% of students being female and 50% being male. There is also a small number of minority students, making up 20% of the total. The school focuses on personalized learning, and it has six full-time teachers to help with that. This means that there are 12 students for every teacher, which is the same as the district average and much lower than state standards. According to U.S. News & World Report, 55% of Apple Creek Elementary School students score at or above the proficient level in both math and reading. This is higher than the state average. The school has adopted the most recent North Dakota state standards for computer science and cybersecurity as part of this effort. For grades K–5, lessons are meant to be a part of what students do every day in class. Apple Creek Elementary will work with an EduTech expert once a month to teach students basic coding, problem-solving, and digital safety skills that are becoming more and more important in today's world.
