The "Whistleblower" Phone Debate: On February 26, district leaders discussed a potential new "whistleblower protection" for the student phone policy. While elementary students currently aren't allowed to use phones at all, the board is weighing whether students should be permitted to record video specifically for safety reasons, such as documenting bullying.
1. What academic support is available for the struggling students?
Ans. Programs include reading interventions, tutoring and small group instruction are available for the struggling students
2. How are the parents engaged in school activities?
Ans. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, attend PTO meetings and participate in family events.
3. Does the school offer extracurricular activities?
Ans. Yes, the students can join clubs in arts, music, STEM and sports.
4. How does the school address bullying and peer conflict?
Ans. There are policies including monitoring, counseling and conflict resolution strategies.
5. How does Heritage encourage student independence?
Ans. They are encouraged through classroom responsibilities, project-based learning and goal-setting exercises.
