The school is recognised for being calm and pleasant. It teaches kids from kindergarten to fifth grade. There are roughly 550 pupils enrolled, and teachers teach classes with an average of 17 to 18 students each. This lets them pay special attention to each child's growth. About 51% of children in North Carolina meet state math standards. At Benvenue, about 28% of students are good at maths, which means there's still work to be done. But the teachers here aren't afraid of obstacles.
To assist pupils catch up, they've introduced small-group arithmetic work, after-school tutoring and extra reading help. When you look at scores from surrounding schools like Englewood Elementary, Benvenue's scores are around the same. This shows that the whole district is working together to make things better. In October 2025, Benvenue Elementary launched its “Math Around Us” week, turning hallways into learning stations filled with puzzles and real-world number games. Parents joined as volunteers, helping students explore how math connects to cooking, shopping, and sports. The project ended with a “Family Math Night,” where students presented fun challenges they designed themselves, a small but meaningful celebration of curiosity.
