Sternberger Elementary School is a well-established public K-5 school located at 518 North Holden Road in Greensboro and serves families in the Starmount Forest neighborhood. It boasts a student–teacher ratio of about 14:1, which is a little better than state norms, supporting classrooms where educators often know their students by name. According to recent proficiency data, around 77% of students are proficient in math, and approximately 82% in reading, both significantly above the North Carolina averages for those subjects.
The school emphasizes academic excellence alongside character development, offering a gifted-and-talented programme, frequent family engagement events, and a set of enrichment clubs after school. While the school does not publicize widely known alumni, its feeder pattern leads into notable high schools in Greensboro, providing students with a strong academic trajectory. With a stable enrollment of under 450 students, Sternberger retains a close-knit culture where community involvement and high standards combine to create a top-tier elementary option in the region.
