Olympic High School resource officer R. J. Gladden was named a Hyundai Hometown Hero in late May 2026. Gladden stunned the senior class with a presentation and won a new Hyundai Santa Fe. His outreach and support to students at the Charlotte school earned him the award. Community recognition programs continue to recognize school staff members who step outside of their traditional roles to serve students.
